Centennial Trail Lane Closure and Grand Opening of North Mt Bike Skills Area

Snohomish County Parks has announced a Lane Closure for the Centennial Trail south of Wade Road.  This project is evaluating a sinkhole problem along the trail.

In other big news:

On Saturday, July 15, WA DNR and Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance held the Grand Opening of the North Mountain Bike Skills park near Darrington.

The enthusiastic crowd gathered at the Whitehorse Cafe in Darrington, then bicycled the 2+ mile along the Whitehorse Trail connecting via the Powerline Road to the new skills park.  Once at the new information kiosk, Glen Glover of the Washington DNR along with Evergreen Director Yvonne Krause, Trails Director Mike Westra, Darrington Mayor Dan Rankin, Senator Kirk Pearson, and Friends of North Mountain Lookout Brianna Hawkins extolled the successful collaboration of many partners planning and executing this big project.

This is the first phase of the ongoing development of a major Mountain Bike Park.  These initial 4.5 miles on the lower mountain will be one part of a longer trail system starting from near the North Mountain Lookout on the summit.  Over 13 additional miles of downhill excitement and scenic terrain are currently in the planning stage.
